The Maxima core bits are suitable with different type of machines, according to the model, the technical characteristics and the job to be done.
First of all, it is necessary to decide whether to work dry or with water cooling: in this second case, the machine must be equipped with the protection switch (the so called PRCD).
Then we can use the following elements to check the compatibility between the core bit and the machine:
- The fitting of the machine: a 1” ¼ fitting allows the use of core bits with the same fitting.
- The maximum diameter allowed by the machine
- The power of the machine (minimum 900/1’000 w)
- The motor speed, which is very important in manual use of dry core bits and which is engraved on the core bit.
Can I use dry core bits with water cooling or vice versa?
Yes, sure. The dry core bits can always work with water cooling without problems; on the contrary, wet core bits never allow dry working. The reason lies in the type of welding and in the shape of the steel body of thecore bit.
Dry core bits are laser welded and so they have a very high heating resistance. This high temperature is not reached if you work dry, and obviously is not reached if ou work with water cooling. So, the resistance is granted.
On the contrary, core bits for wet use are normally braze-welded and the temperature of rupture can be reached if working dry. For this reason, they can’t be used without water cooling or the segments may break away from the steel body.
I have difficult in choosing. Who can I refer to?
